Kendon Bike Lift Bottle Jack Rebuild Procedure

Use the following steps to perform a Kendon Bike Lift Bottle Jack Rebuild for your Kendon Stand-Up™ Motorcycle Lift. You can rebuild the jack in the lift frame or remove it completely.

 

Items required:

42mm or 1-11/16” or adjustable wrench

Small screwdriver or pick

Parts cleaner

Steel wool or fine emery cloth

Replacement o-ring: #216 (0.139” x 1.109” x 1.387” or 3.53mm x 28.17mm x 35.23mm

Hydraulic fluid

Safety glasses

 

1: Disconnect the top of the bottle jack piston from the lift frame by removing the circlip and connecting pin

2: Using a large wrench, loosen the large nut on top of the bottle jack by turning it counter-clockwise

  1. Remove the cap by sliding off the top of the piston

  1. Locate the o-ring that sits inside the cap

  1. Using a small screwdriver or pick, remove the o-ring from the cap

  1. Thoroughly clean the cap being sure to remove any debris from the o-ring groove
  1. Remove the powder coating from the top of the piston using steel wool, emery cloth, or other cleaning agent (do not damage the piston surface)

  1. Thoroughly clean the piston after removing the powder coating
  1. Coat the new o-ring with hydraulic fluid
  1. Insert the new o-ring into the groove in the cap
  1. Carefully slide the cap over the piston and into place in the bottle jack
  1. Tighten the cap onto the jack by turning it clockwise
  1. Refill the hydraulic fluid through the filler hole in the side of the bottle jack

  1. Install the pin and circlip to connect the bottle jack to the lift frame
